OK, the rating is based on the description, not on the product – but how should I know if this is the right product if I can’t tell what size it is?

If you are out of USA and ship with Transexpress please dont buy this because the ship value is 374$ :S and the item just 87$ but the Eclipse 12 look cool!

Your water will be sparkling, the gentle sound of the water wheel is relaxing, it’s a beautiful tank, but you just can’t keep anything alive in it! I have fish in mulitple tanks ( different brands )and they do beautifully, but anything I put in this tank is dead within a 2 month period. Crazy. This tank is not cheap, but there is something wrong. As I write this there is a poor fish gasping it’s last breath in that stinking tank. I guess I am out the money because I will not put another fish in that tank only to watch it die a slow and painful death. It’s a beautiful fishy coffin. If I sound ticked off it’s because I am ticked off. Buy something else.

When I purchased this, I was new in the world of marine aquaria. If there is one good thing I can say about it, that would be that it taught me exactly what a mini reef tank should not be!!! The lights are ridiculously poor. The bulky lid with attached light is innefficient, as is the filtration. The filtration makes absolutley no sense as the water goes over, not through the filter. This is not a tank that I would recommend. I would skip this entirely and go with a glass aquarium and put my own equipment into it. Read as much as possble. This is not a tnk for anenomes or corals, and seeing as I was hoping to start with this back then, I was extremely disappointed.

my Eclipse Hex 5 is my favorite as I also have the 5 gallon corner Eclipse, the 12 gallon and another Hex, but there is no feeding door like the Hex and I like to let my gases excape also through that door and no contaminate seem to get in.. but the 12, 6, 5 corner and the 3 .. do not have this little extra that I like. After using a different system on my first try, I ended up with all dead fish and a soured tank. I will buy nothing else than the Marineland’s tanks with the bio wheel. My tanks stay crystal clear and they are all easy to clean, vacume, and admire. Only big problem I am dealing with is the 12 gallon as the filter is not sized right and my water just runs over the top and back out without the cleaning that is so excellent in my other smaller Eclipes ..3 others. So what I did is buy a reasuable nylon bag .. add extra media .. as I had never had problems with amonia until the 12 .. so I added ammo lock with carbon into the bag, put on the bottom and now it seems .. still not sure as I just did this yesterday after getting bad readings .. but it looks like the filter is up highter and catching the icky stuff like the Hex. My hex has never had a bad reading so I know it is a great filtration system for this beginner.
